Diaspora alumni stories

Health Tech → McGill biomedical engineering

Sarvenaz joined from Montreal at 14. Her capstone — an arrhythmia detector trained on MIT-BIH — won her school's science fair and earned her a McGill BME spot.

"The bilingual classes meant I could discuss my project with my Iranian grandfather, who is a doctor. He helped me design the user interface in Persian for elderly patients."

Common questions

What parents abroad ask us

Are these sensors safe?

Yes. All sensors are non-invasive (skin-contact only, low voltage). Built on our safe-kit boards. No risk of shock.

Is this a medical-school path?

It's a great foundation for biomedical engineering, pre-med, biomedical research, and health-tech startups. Many alumni use it in both directions.

What if my child wants to do real diagnoses?

We teach the engineering. We emphasize that any device is for learning, not for medical decisions. Parents and licensed doctors must oversee real medical use.

Hands-on or simulation only?

Mostly hands-on — sensors ship to your home. Some advanced work (medical-imaging AI) uses cloud datasets.

Can my child join mid-year?

Yes, with 2-week onboarding.
